Insomnia Enforces Sleeplessness

By: Penny Butler, NaturalHealing.com.au

During my study of insomnia, I learned that creative minds often suffer insomnia more so than those without creative minds do.

In the next article, we will discuss artistic/creative minds and insomnia, but for now, we are focusing on insomnia enforcing sleepless nights.

Insomnia makes it difficult during night hours, since the person often has difficulty falling to sleep. If the person finds a moment to sleep the person, will often wake up during the night and find it difficult to get back to sleep. Insomnia can cause nervous disorders or problems, thus medications are often needed to enforce sleep. One of the better medications to treat underlying symptoms that cause insomnia is ALPRAZOLAM a generic brand of medication known as XANAX. XANAX is prescribed to treat panic attacks, anxiety and nervous disorders, which causes insomnia. The medication works closely with the brain and the nervous central system producing calmness. Thus, insomnia may occur since the GABA in the brain is lacking, thus XANAX will enhance the GABA in the brain to enforce calmness. If a nervous disorder is not the problem, then other medications may be needed to treat insomnia.

Few doctors may prescribe XANAX for nervous conditions, which may include itching, irritation of the skin, and so forth. The nerves can make a person think that more is wrong with them than what really exists. Thus, if skin irritation and itching is also part of your symptoms be sure to tell your doctor. Medications such as CYPROHEPTADINE may be prescribed with XANAX to help relieve itching and enforce sleep.

CYPROHEPTADINE is used to relieve3 'seasonal' and 'year-round' allergies, including skin conditions, hives, running noses, watery eyes, itching, and so forth. The medication blocks increases of serotonin and histamine, which is often off balance. The medicine can also treat hormonal disorders, eating disorders, such as 'anorexia nervosa,' Cushing Syndrome, and other types of problems.

As you can see allergies, nerves, hormones, and other types of problems can enforce insomnia, thus making it difficult for a person to sleep during night hours. If you work during the day you may want to ask your doctor to prescribe the medications during night hours, since when you first start taking the medications it will make you sleep long hours and cause drowsiness.

Few people suffering insomnia may need different types of medications, especially if the person has chemical imbalances or mental disorders. Persons with various types of mental disorders find it difficult to rest peacefully during night hours. Schizophrenics especially need medications to control the brain, since not only do these people suffer insomnia, when the mind splits danger may lurk.

Persons that suffer hyperactivity disorders or else Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders will also need medications, since the mind races throughout the person's life and sleep is next to impossible. ADDRALL XL is often prescribed to treat such symptoms; however, recent reports have claimed that this particular medication has claimed a few lives. Thus, if you are diagnosed with this particular disorder make sure that you ask questions before accepting medications.

Medications may be needed to help a person deal with insomnia, however exercise and diet is also needed to help continuous of the symptoms. Exercise is said to help the body and mind find relaxation, even if the person is suffering medical or mental conditions.

The body requires certain elements to function properly. It is recommended that everyone practice stress reducers, such as stretching exercises throughout the day hours and even at night. Exercises should be avoided at least two to three hours before bedtime. It is also important to avoid alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and other harmful contaminates that affect the mind.
