Feeding the Mind to Reduce Insomnia

By: Penny Butler, NaturalHealing.com.au

One of the best gifts of all times that I found that relieves stress and releases the mind from stress is writing. Psychologist and many other experts for years have also recommended writing.

If you suffering insomnia it might be, time to start a journal writing down the problems that entrap your mind and hinder you from sleep. Again, you want to feed the mind healthy information and continue writing in your journal daily.

A person does not have to be a professional writer to keep a journal. Keeping journals can help you to look back at your problems, learn more about your self, and find answers to the many problems you are facing. To start writing a journal you will record the date and time, and then begin expressing your emotions and thoughts on paper. Recording the date and time can help you to keep track of your daily activities and thoughts also. For the most part, fear and stress are the leading cause for all problems of the mind and can affect the body. If you suffer insomnia, it is possible that some things are buried in the subconscious mind that hinders you from functioning properly or solving problems. When you keep a journal of your thoughts and emotions, eventually the subconscious mind will open the doors and allow you to see your fears and the reasons that you feel stressed. The subconscious mind may even expose the answers to your problems, thus helping you to relieve stress and find a source of relaxation so that you can sleep peacefully.

Next, you want to learn to add something new to your life. If you arrive home everyday to the same surroundings, it can become depressing. Thus, adding something new to your life can bring forth a sense of joy, thus relieving stress. If you are alone each day you arrive home, try buying your self a stuffed animal to cuddle with each night when you lie down. It is ok to bring out that child buried within to find a source of release. Otherwise, if you are married you may want to practice communication with your spouse so that your loved one can help you deal with your situation. Communication whether directly or indirectly can solve many problems. Learning self-talk is another great strategy for relieving stress, finding answers to problems, thus clearing the mind so that you can relax and find rest.

Again, if you are alone you may want to adopt an animal. Animals are found to soothe minds and thus you will have a long-term friend that will enjoy each day you arrive home. On the other hand, if you are having debt problems, then a pet may not be the answer since animals are often expensive.

Remember to keep writing daily to relieve your stress and enjoy good entertainment periodically, as well as listen to comforting music to soothe your soul. When you lie down to rest do not think about your troubles, rather take your mind to a peaceful habitat where you are at peace and no problems exist. Learn to do stretching and breathing exercises before you lie down to rest. When you are ready for bed practice breathing and stretching exercises while you are lying down to rest so that the body and mind can learn to relax by finding a source of release, thus relieving your self of stress.

Finally, we can see that stress is a major counterpart of insomnia, thus relieving stress is the answer to finding a peaceful area in the mind to rest.
