Suffering Insomnia

By: Penny Butler, NaturalHealing.com.au

When a person suffers, insomnia it takes control of the person's life and until help is available, the person often struggles to make it through a day.

If you are suffering insomnia, you may need medications, since medical reasons may be causing the sleeplessness.

If a medical ailment is non-existing then mental help may be needed to help you cope with insomnia.

Persons that suffer chronic pain, asthma, allergies, nervous conditions or other ailments often find it difficult to sleep at night. When pain is taking over the body sleep is often left behind since the person finds it difficult to relax.

Acute insomnia often occurs when a person has undergone a stressful situation, such as death in the family, birth of a child, and so forth. Chronic insomnia is a constant problem that may be caused by various underlying ailments, including sleeping disorders. Thus to find a source of relief the person must search out seeking the answer that is causing the problem. Sleeping disorders are often curable through medical treatment, however if mental disorders are existing then long-term therapy coupled with the right medications may be the answer.

Regardless of the cause, insomnia rarely stands alone. Even if insomnia is temporary, stress is often linking to the problem. When a person is suffering temporary stress caused from death, a birth, or other stressful event the problem is often easy to treat. For the most part the person needs to learn to cope with a new situation and accept what is happening in their life. The person must also learn to deal with his or her emotions in order to relieve the mind and body of stress, ending insomnia. Death is going to happen and none of us can change the fact. Births are also common and when a new mother is finding it difficulty to cope with the stress of the birth temporary medications may be needed, since the baby needs the mother's attention during its first couple of years more so than later. Thus, a mother suffering from stress is not a good thing however, it is not uncommon.

Insomnia is a controller if you allow it to continue. Some people suffer insomnia due to central nervous system failures and chemical imbalances of the brain. If you find it difficult to sleep at night and during the day, you feel an overload of stress followed by anxiety and panic attacks you will need to visit your doctor to get on medications that will help you cope with stress and find a source of calmness of the mind in order to sleep.

Failure to get help when insomnia is taking over can lead to major problems later. When the body and mind is in constant torment it begins to deteriorate over time and finally major health problems start and continue until total control is out of your hands. The last thing any of us need is a ride to the hospital in an ambulance due to heart attacks or strokes. When the body is suffering eventually, the heart will suffer too.

Suffering insomnia is a miserable state of living, thus if you have insomnia visit your physician to learn more about your health. If you doctor fails to find medical causes of your health then you may need to visit your local mental health profession. Help is available, thus it takes you to take the steps to get the help you need so that your mind can sleep at night.
