As for the war, well we are supposed to have intelligent people controlling our lives, yet throughout the century, intelligence is minimal while many mistakes are made at our expense. The answer, the next time you vote consider the person you are voting for more carefully. Overall, why lose sleep over things you cannot change? In addition, do something about the things you can change.
